Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek
A beautiful Himalayan meadow trek in Uttarakhand, known for the vast alpine grasslands of Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal.
The Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek is one of Uttarakhand’s most scenic high-altitude meadow treks, offering an exceptional combination of dense forests, traditional Himalayan villages, vast grasslands, and magnificent mountain views. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the trek takes you through the spectacular Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal, two expansive alpine meadows set against the backdrop of the Garhwal Himalayas.
The journey typically begins from the Lohajung region and gradually climbs through forests of oak and rhododendron before opening into the rolling landscapes of Ali Bugyal. As you gain altitude, the dense forest gives way to seemingly endless green meadows, with impressive views of Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti dominating the horizon.
Bedni Bugyal is another major highlight of the trek. Surrounded by mountains and open grasslands, the area holds both natural and cultural significance. The trail also provides an opportunity to experience the peaceful environment and traditional lifestyle of remote Himalayan settlements along the route.
Reaching elevations of roughly 12000 Ft., the Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek is generally classified as an easy-to-moderate Himalayan trek. While the trail includes sustained ascents and requires reasonable stamina, it does not involve technical climbing, making it suitable for fit beginners as well as experienced trekkers looking for a relaxed Himalayan experience.
The best trekking windows are generally April to June and September to November. Spring and early summer bring greener meadows and blooming vegetation, while the post-monsoon and autumn months are known for clearer skies and sharper Himalayan views.
With its sweeping alpine meadows, forest trails, mountain panoramas and peaceful surroundings, Ali Bedni Bugyal Trek is an excellent choice for trekkers who want to experience the natural beauty of the Uttarakhand Himalayas without undertaking an extremely difficult high-altitude expedition.
